Trust and safety
Safety Guidelines
PassengerPool safety tools are designed to reduce risk, but users should still remain careful and make informed decisions.
For Everyone
- Use only verified accounts
- Check profile, rating, verification badge, and ride details
- Share ride details with a family member or trusted friend
- Avoid sharing unnecessary personal information
- Meet in safe, public, and well-lit pickup points — the platform only accepts verified public locations
- Report suspicious behavior immediately
- Do not carry illegal or dangerous items
- Trust your instincts and cancel if something feels wrong
Location Safety
PassengerPool automatically checks every pickup and drop-off location before it can be submitted. These checks run in the background when you select a location from the map search.
- Only real public places are accepted — streets, bus stops, shops, markets, and well-known landmarks. Remote land, industrial zones, and unclassified areas are blocked automatically.
- Locations with suspicious names — such as abandoned buildings, forests, cemeteries, or isolated areas — are rejected by the system.
- Your pickup or drop-off must be within 5 km by road of the route's start or end point. This stops anyone from being directed to a location far off the agreed route.
- You must select your location from the search suggestions. Typing an address manually without confirming it on the map is not accepted.
- These checks are a safety layer, not a guarantee. Always use your own judgment, meet in public, and trust your instincts.
If a legitimate location is blocked by the system, please contact support and we will review it.
Fare Safety
PassengerPool calculates every fare automatically — no driver sets a manual price. The cost covers fuel, a small wear-and-tear allowance, and any toll, divided equally among everyone in the car including the driver.
- The fare shown is the lowest possible price — what each person pays when all seats are taken. Your actual share may be slightly higher if not all seats fill before the ride.
- The driver is part of the equal split. A car with 4 available seats divides the total cost among 5 people (driver + 4 passengers), not 4.
- Never pay more than the per-seat fare displayed in the app. The platform prohibits overcharging.
- If a driver asks for any amount above the platform fare — including tips, surcharges, or unofficial extras — this is a violation of platform rules. Decline and report it.
- Payment is settled directly in cash between driver and passenger. PassengerPool does not handle money during beta.
- After payment, both parties can record it using the in-app honour payment confirmation.
If a driver charges more than the platform fare, report it via the in-app report button or Contact Support. This helps protect all users.
For Passengers
- Always select your pickup and drop-off from the map search — do not agree to meet at a location that was not verified on the platform
- If the driver asks you to change to a different pickup location outside the app, decline and report it
- Confirm driver name, vehicle number, and vehicle color before entering
- Share live location if available
- Sit where you feel comfortable
- Keep emergency contact informed
- The fare is calculated automatically by the platform — fuel, a wear allowance, and any toll split equally among everyone in the car including the driver. You should never pay more than the per-seat fare shown in the app.
- The headline fare shown is the lowest price when all seats are taken. Your actual share adjusts upward if not all seats fill by the time you ride, but the driver cannot charge more than the platform-calculated equal split.
- Settle payment directly with the driver in cash — PassengerPool does not collect or hold money during beta
- Use the in-app payment confirmation only to record a fare you have actually paid
- If a driver asks for more than the agreed platform fare, decline, report it, and do not pay the excess
- Report unsafe driving or harassment
For Drivers
- Only accept verified passengers
- Avoid accepting passengers outside the platform
- Confirm that the passenger's requested pickup and drop-off match what was agreed in the app — do not divert to unverified locations
- Confirm passenger identity before starting
- Keep vehicle documents updated
- Follow traffic laws
- Do not overload the vehicle beyond the seat cap set by the platform for your vehicle type
- Avoid route changes without consent
- The fare is calculated by the platform and split equally among all occupants including you — you are part of the cost-share, not separate from it
- You may not charge passengers more than the per-seat amount shown in the app. The platform prohibits overcharging.
- Only confirm a payment as received after you have actually received the agreed fare
- Report no-shows, abuse, or suspicious passengers
Women-Friendly Safety
- Use women-only rides where the feature is available or introduced during beta
- Choose public pickup and drop-off points where possible
- Share ride details with family or trusted friends
- Report harassment or unsafe behavior through support and in-app reporting surfaces
- Use clear report or support routes when a ride interaction feels unsafe
Emergency Guidance
- In immediate danger, contact local emergency services or police first.
- Use SOS or report features if available.
- Contact PassengerPool support after ensuring physical safety.
PassengerPool can support platform review and may cooperate with authorities where legally required, but emergency services should be contacted first in urgent safety situations.
